Fernando Da Cruz Sends Strong Message to Kaizer Chiefs After Five Winless Matches

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has urged his players to remain determined and refuse to give up despite going five consecutive matches without a victory across all competitions.

Amakhosi have recorded three draws and two defeats during this difficult spell, increasing pressure on the technical team as supporters grow concerned about the club’s inconsistent performances.

Their latest setback came on Friday night when Chiefs were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup after losing to Zambian side Red Arrows in a penalty shootout. The defeat ended their hopes of progressing further in the continental competition and added to the frustration surrounding the team’s recent results.

Despite the disappointment, Da Cruz remains convinced that his players have shown encouraging signs on the pitch. According to iDiski Times, the French coach believes the team’s performances have been better than the results suggest and has called on his players to maintain their commitment.

Speaking after the match against Red Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Da Cruz insisted that Chiefs were playing well, even though they had not been rewarded with victories.

“As I have already said, the team plays very well for the moment,” he said.

The coach acknowledged that the outcome against Red Arrows was disappointing but stressed that the players needed to continue working hard and maintain the same intensity and determination.

“It’s a fact, the result was not on our side today but we must continue on this way because if we continue to work as we have been and to play as we did today with character, with intensity, the luck will turn on our side and we will win more and more games,” Da Cruz added.

His comments indicate that he remains committed to his team’s current approach despite the growing frustration surrounding the results. He believes that maintaining their work ethic, character and intensity will eventually help Amakhosi rediscover their winning form.

Da Cruz also reminded his players that the season is still in its early stages, with plenty of matches remaining and opportunities to achieve the club’s objectives.

“We cannot give up, we are only in October, it’s the beginning of the season, there is again a lot of games so we must just continue to work,” he said.

The coach’s message comes at a challenging time for the Soweto giants. Going five matches without a win has raised questions about the team’s ability to turn its performances into positive results, particularly following its disappointing exit from continental football.

However, Chiefs still have domestic competitions to concentrate on, and their immediate priority will be to improve their finishing, take advantage of scoring opportunities and become more consistent.

For Da Cruz, keeping the squad motivated and maintaining belief will be essential as the team attempts to recover from its difficult spell.

While the coach remains confident that better results will follow, the upcoming fixtures will be important in determining whether Amakhosi can turn his encouraging assessment of their performances into victories.
