The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has met with the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for completing the long-awaited Bonny-Bodo Road.

According to a media post by Honourable Lere Olayinka, the media aide to the FCT Minister, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Wike said the road demonstrated why Tinubu deserved another term in office in 2027.

The meeting took place in Port Harcourt ahead of Wike’s interactive session with residents of Bonny Local Government Area.

Wike explained that the road had ended years of dependence on boats and helicopters for transportation to the island community, adding that the project would improve connectivity and boost economic activities.

He also defended Tinubu’s removal of the petrol subsidy, arguing that the policy had increased revenue available to state and local governments despite the economic hardship experienced by Nigerians.

The minister urged residents to judge political leaders by their achievements, accountability and commitment to development.

Earlier, the Bonny monarch commended Wike for his longstanding relationship with the kingdom, acknowledging his contributions to Bonny Polytechnic, security matters and the road project.

Wike urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing infrastructure development as a reason for continuity.
