Ghana’s Black Starlets End WAFU B U17 Championship Campaign Without a Medal

According to a report by TV3Gh, on Saturday October 24, 2026, Ghana’s national under-17 football team, the Black Starlets, have concluded their campaign at the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship without securing a medal, bringing a disappointing end to their quest for continental youth football glory.

The young Ghanaian side entered the competition with hopes of making a strong impression and establishing themselves among the leading teams in the West African sub-region.

However, their performance was not enough to secure a place among the medal-winning teams, leaving the squad and its technical handlers with important lessons to consider ahead of future assignments.

The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship provides a competitive platform for emerging football talents across West Africa to demonstrate their abilities, gain international experience and prepare for higher levels of the game.

For Ghana, the tournament also offered an opportunity to assess the quality of its youth development system and identify areas requiring improvement.

Despite the disappointment of finishing without a medal, the experience gained by the players could prove valuable as they continue their development.

Competitions of this nature expose young footballers to different playing styles, tactical approaches and the demands of international football.

The outcome will also place renewed attention on the preparation of Ghana’s youth teams, particularly the need to build competitive squads capable of delivering consistent performances against their regional rivals.

For the Black Starlets, the immediate challenge will be to learn from the tournament, address the weaknesses exposed during the competition and rebuild confidence ahead of their next assignment.

Although the campaign ended without the desired reward, the focus will now shift to ensuring that the lessons from the WAFU B U17 Championship contribute to the team’s future progress.
