NCC Moves To Strengthen Telecom Partnerships With Airtel, IHS Towers

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has stepped up efforts to deepen cooperation with telecommunications operators and infrastructure companies to enhance service delivery and expand connectivity across Nigeria.

The initiative followed separate familiarisation visits to Airtel Nigeria and IHS Towers in Lagos on October 21, 2026.

The NCC delegation was led by its Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management, Ms. Rimini Makama, alongside the President of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Engr. Gbenga Adebayo.

The visits provided an opportunity for the regulator to engage industry stakeholders on strengthening partnerships, addressing operational challenges and encouraging infrastructure investment to support the development of the telecommunications sector.

At Airtel Nigeria’s headquarters, the delegation met with the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh, to discuss areas of cooperation between the regulator and the operator, with emphasis on improving industry relations and telecommunications services.

The team subsequently visited IHS Towers, where it held discussions with the company’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kazeem Oladepo.

The engagements reinforced the need for continuous communication and collaboration among the NCC, telecom operators and infrastructure providers to tackle sector-wide challenges and extend reliable network coverage nationwide.

The Commission’s outreach also reflects its commitment to fostering productive relationships with industry players and creating a supportive environment for the long-term growth of Nigeria’s communications industry.

Through sustained consultations with stakeholders, the NCC aims to encourage infrastructure expansion, strengthen cooperation across the telecommunications value chain and improve the quality and reach of services available to Nigerians.
