UDA MP from Mt Kenya Claims Gachagua Regrets Voting for Him in Last Polls

Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi claims that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua deeply regrets voting for him in the 2022 General Election, despite the development projects he has delivered in the constituency.

In a post he made on Facebook on Friday, October 23, 2026, Wamumbi said he has done roads, connected electricity, provided water, paid school fees for students and stayed with the people.

The lawmaker accused Gachagua of planning to bring a candidate who has nothing to offer to compete against him in the upcoming General Election.

He further asked Gachagua to vote for him, stating that he has constructed a road leading to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader’s village.

“Hapa Mathira it’s getting interesting. RiggyG regrets voting for an MP who has done roads, schools, electricity, water, school fees and has stayed with his people. He now want to bring us an MP with an agenda ya kuweka watu Meno. RiggyG si ata nimejenga barabara ya kwenda kwenu, please nakuomba kura yako. Mungu asifiwe sana,” Wamumbi said.

Wamumbi and Gachagua were close in the run-up to the last General Election when they were both in UDA. However, they fell out in early 2024 over the issue of fighting the sale of illicit brew in Mathira.

Wamumbi even participated in the impeachment of Gachagua, with the former Deputy President claiming that the legislator was the first MP to sign his impeachment motion. Gachagua recently said that Wamumbi should not even attain 100 votes in the next General Election.

However, the lawmaker has remained loyal to President Ruto and stated that he cannot join DCP ahead of the next election.
