2027: Atiku’s Camp Reacts As Tinubu, APC Storm Kaduna For Mega Campaign Flag-Off Amid Ebola Scare

According to a report by The Punch on Friday, October 23, 2026, President Bola Tinubu and top leaders of the All Progressives Congress are set to officially kick off the President’s 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State this Saturday.

With the North boasting 56.01 million of Nigeria’s 103.43 million registered voters, the ruling party is strategically targeting the region to cement its political base, despite Tinubu losing the state during the 2023 presidential elections.

Heavy security has already locked down parts of Kaduna, with military, Department of State Services, police, and civil defence operatives patrolling major routes ahead of the high-profile event at the Kaduna Flagship Stadium.

APC chieftains, including Women Mobilisation co-chair Dr. Betta Edu, disclosed ambitious plans to mobilize nearly 40 million votes through rigorous grassroots engagement rather than relying solely on large crowds.

Support groups like Arewa for Asiwaju have equally set sights on pulling 10,000 participants for the Kaduna flag-off, followed by subsequent rallies scheduled for Calabar, Gombe, Lafia, and Ado-Ekiti through January 2027.

Local organizing committee chair and Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe confirmed that comprehensive preparations are fully underway to ensure a seamless and successful event.

However, the opposition camp of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has fiercely challenged the ruling party’s optimism.

Speaking through Paul Ibe, the camp argued that biting economic hardship, rising fuel costs, and widespread poverty cut across regional and religious lines, insisting that frustrated citizens are ready to vote out the APC at the ballot box in 2027.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Prof. Muhammad Pate addressed public concerns regarding an imported Ebola case, stating that the development does not currently warrant halting political rallies or large public gatherings, though health authorities remain fully vigilant and prepared to review security or public health guidelines if conditions change.
