Kenyans React as Western Opposition Figure Backs Ruto in Ongoing Exchange of Insults With Natembeya

Eugene Wamalwa has urged Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya to give President William Ruto an opportunity to bring development to the people of Trans Nzoia County.

Wamalwa made the appeal amid growing political differences between Natembeya and Ruto over development projects and the management of public services in the county.

His remarks come at a time when Trans Nzoia has become a key political battleground ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders using development projects to explain their positions and seek public support.

Ruto recently toured the county and announced several development plans, including road construction, market projects and improvements to healthcare services. He also pledged Sh1 billion towards the construction of a new Level Four hospital to help address challenges facing residents.

The President further announced plans to take over the completion of the stalled Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale, while promising additional support for infrastructure and other projects.

However, Natembeya has questioned the national government’s approach, arguing that some projects fall under the county government’s responsibilities. He has also accused the President of using development announcements to gain political mileage ahead of the next election.

The disagreement has placed the two leaders on opposite sides of a debate over how development should be delivered and who should take responsibility for ongoing projects.

Wamalwa’s message appears to call for cooperation between the county and national governments so that residents can benefit from development initiatives regardless of political differences.

The debate is particularly important for residents who depend on public hospitals, roads, markets and other services to improve their daily lives and support local businesses.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, Trans Nzoia is likely to remain a major focus for political leaders seeking support in the region.

For residents, the main concern remains whether the promises made by leaders will translate into completed projects and better services.

Do you think Governor Natembeya should cooperate more closely with President Ruto on development projects in Trans Nzoia?
