PalmPay supports NPF-NCCC cyber security awareness walk

Financial Technology (fintech) company PalmPay has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a safer digital ecosystem by supporting the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Walk for the second consecutive year.

This was in commemoration of Cyber security Awareness Month, and the event was held in Abuja on October 17, 2026, as part of a three-day programme themed “Towards a Resilient Cyberspace.” The walk aimed to promote public awareness of cyber threats and encourage safer online practices.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director, PalmPay Nigeria, Chika Nwosu, emphasised the importance of collaboration and continuous education in building a safer digital ecosystem.

He said: “Our continued participation reflects our commitment to combating cybercrime and promoting a safer digital space for Nigerians.

“As cyber threats such as phishing and social engineering become increasingly sophisticated, equipping people with the knowledge and tools to recognise and prevent fraud is more important than ever.”

Nwosu said PalmPay has consistently called for collective action and continuous cybersecurity awareness to combat fraud, a message it continues to reinforce through its collaboration with NPF and its ongoing customer education efforts.

He commended the NPF-NCCC for its efforts to strengthen cybersecurity awareness, noting that technology alone cannot eliminate cybercrime without proactive customer education.

“Through our PalmPay Dey For You campaign, we educate customers on recognising scams, using our official support channels, and keeping their PINs, passwords and OTPs confidential.

“By strengthening security measures with our robust digital security systems and raising awareness, we can reduce vulnerabilities and create a digital ecosystem that inspires greater trust and adoption,” he added.

Also speaking during the programme, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, said the cybersecurity awareness campaign reflected the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to adopting a comprehensive approach to internal security through public sensitisation, stakeholder collaboration and preventive measures.

He urged Nigerians to embrace the central message of the campaign: “Think Before You Click and Verify Before You Share.”

As part of its commitment to customer protection, PalmPay continues to promote safer digital financial practices and highlight security features available in its app’s Security Center, encouraging customers to take proactive steps to protect their accounts.

Through targeted fraud prevention initiatives, PalmPay said it remains committed to secure banking and helping Nigerians transact with greater confidence.
