Fresh Update on Teboho Mokoena’s Injury at Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have received encouraging news regarding midfielder Teboho Mokoena, with the South African international expected to return to action soon after experiencing another setback with a recurring injury.

The midfielder’s fitness is an important concern for Sundowns as they continue competing in domestic and continental competitions. Mokoena brings energy, strength and control to the middle of the park, making his availability valuable to the technical team.

His latest injury concern has attracted attention because Sundowns are entering a demanding period of their campaign, where squad depth and the fitness of key players could influence their performances.

However, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso initially admitted that the full extent of Mokoena’s injury was unknown and that the midfielder would undergo further medical examinations. The problem involved the same ligament he injured while on international duty with Bafana Bafana.

The recurrence is a concern because Mokoena has already experienced injury setbacks this season. His absence could force Sundowns to adjust their midfield options, particularly during an important stage of their CAF Champions League campaign.

Despite the uncertainty, there is optimism that the midfielder will not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. His recovery will depend on the medical assessment and how he responds to treatment.

Sundowns will be keen to have Mokoena available as they prepare for demanding fixtures, including their return-leg clash against Wiliete SC. The teams played out a goalless draw in Angola, leaving the South African champions needing a strong performance at home to secure progress.

For now, supporters will be waiting for confirmation of Mokoena’s fitness before drawing conclusions about his availability. While the latest report points towards a quick return, the club’s medical team will have the final say on when he can safely resume playing.
