Debibi Presby Park is only suitable for cassava plantation, not for football – Gold Stars coach Petros Koukouras
Bibiani Gold Stars head coach Petros Koukouras has criticised the condition of the Debibi Presby Park pitch, suggesting it is more suitable for cassava cultivation than football.
His comments came after Gold Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat by Debibi United in their Matchday Seven fixture in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League over the weekend.
Maxwell Agyemang scored shortly before half-time to secure all three points for the hosts, ending their three-match winless run in the league.
The victory lifted Debibi United to seven points, level with Gold Stars, and moved them out of the relegation zone.
Speaking after the match, Koukouras expressed frustration with the playing surface, arguing that its condition made it difficult to focus on the game itself.
“We cannot discuss football. I don’t think this is a pitch designated for football. Maybe it is designated for cassava plantation. I don’t have anything else to say,” he said.
The defeat leaves Gold Stars with work to do as they prepare to host Heart of Lions in Matchday Eight this weekend.
Debibi United, meanwhile, will aim to build on their victory when they travel to face Bechem United as they look to continue their climb away from the relegation zone.
