Sifuna Breaks Silence After Mudavadi and Wetang’ula Walk Out During His Speech

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has drawn attention following reports that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula left a burial ceremony as he began addressing mourners.

The reported incident has attracted interest amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election. However, the circumstances surrounding the alleged walkout and whether it was connected to Sifuna’s remarks remain unclear.

Sifuna, who previously served as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, has remained an influential voice in discussions about the opposition’s direction. His political activities have attracted attention as leaders debate how different parties could cooperate ahead of the next election.

Mudavadi and Wetang’ula, meanwhile, are senior figures in the Kenya Kwanza administration. Their reported departure has raised questions among observers, although the available account does not establish why they left or whether they intended to send a political message.

The incident has also focused attention on what Sifuna said after the two leaders reportedly walked away. The account provided does not include his exact words, making it difficult to establish whether he directly addressed their departure or continued with his speech.

Public ceremonies have increasingly attracted political attention as leaders use gatherings to communicate with supporters and discuss national issues. Nevertheless, the reported incident should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of a political confrontation.

A complete video or verified transcript of Sifuna’s speech would help clarify what happened and establish his precise remarks. Until that information is available, claims about his response and the reasons for the alleged walkout remain unconfirmed.
