“This Is a Rigging Plot” – MPs Cry Foul as 6 Unknown Names Mysteriously Added to 2027 IEBC Shortlist

A new political storm is brewing in Kenya after Members of Parliament (MPs) raised alarm over six mysterious names that appeared in the list of shortlisted candidates for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

According to lawmakers, these six individuals were not part of the original list released after the official shortlisting process.

MPs now fear that the 2027 General Election could be rigged, saying this move looks like the beginning of a well-planned scheme to interfere with the outcome.

Speaking during a heated parliamentary session, one MP shouted, “This is a plot to rig 2027!” Many others agreed, demanding that the selection panel explain how the extra names got into the list without Parliament’s knowledge or approval.

The issue was first reported by NTV Kenya, sending shockwaves across the country. Kenyans online reacted with anger, frustration, and fear.

One citizen, Suzanah, said, “Kenya never ceases to amaze me with corruption at its core.”

Others warned that voters might be blocked or manipulated in the next election.

Another Kenyan, Geoffrey Okweya, warned, “No parent will be allowed to vote without government approval,” suggesting that voter suppression might be part of the plan.

A man named Isaac Osanya added, “It will be fixed whether you like it or not,” showing how many people now believe that elections in Kenya are not fair.

Even though some MPs are calling for action, others feel helpless.

One Kenyan online, Kirimi, asked, “Do we even have a parliament?”

The Council of Governors and civil society groups have also started asking questions. They want the panel to remove the suspicious names and follow the correct legal process.

The selection panel has not yet responded to the accusations. However, public pressure is growing, and many Kenyans are now watching closely.

With just less than a year to go before the 2027 elections, trust in the electoral process is quickly fading.
