All Eyes on Ruto’s Next Move After Receiving a Letter from a Man Seeking to Reunite With Him

A man from Uasin Gishu County is hoping to reunite with President William Ruto more than 40 years after they allegedly shared a classroom at Wareng High School.

Francis Samoei says he was Ruto’s schoolmate in 1983 and has kept a handwritten note he believes the president gave him during their school days. The note has remained a treasured possession as he waits for an opportunity to meet his former classmate again.

According to a report by TUKO.co.ke published on Wednesday, October 21, Francis says he has made several attempts to arrange a meeting with Ruto, but his efforts have not yet resulted in a face-to-face reunion.

The man, who lives with a disability, believes meeting the president would give him a chance to look back on their school days and congratulate his former classmate on his journey to the country’s highest office.

Francis says the handwritten message, in which Ruto allegedly referred to him as his “namesake,” has helped him preserve memories of their time together. He considers it an important reminder of a friendship formed long before either of them could have predicted what the future held.

His efforts to reach the president reportedly received some attention when Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen called him. However, the conversation has not yet led to the personal meeting he hopes to have.

Seeking additional support, Francis turned to disability advocate Jonathan Metet, who shared his story on social media and appealed to leaders close to the president to help arrange the reunion.

Francis says his request is simple: he wants to meet his former schoolmate, exchange memories and congratulate him on his achievements.

His story comes as President Ruto continues his public engagements across the country, including activities in Eldoret during the Mashujaa Day period.

For Francis, however, the most important event would be a personal reunion with someone he says he knew in his school days more than four decades ago.

Do you think Francis should get an opportunity to meet President Ruto after waiting for so many years?
