Share on Twitter Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang has been named in the 2026 PFAI League of Ireland Premier Division Team of the Year, earning recognition from his fellow professionals for an outstanding campaign.
The 26-year-old was voted into the league’s best XI by members of the Professional Footballers’ Association of Ireland (PFAI), an honour regarded as one of the highest individual accolades in Irish football because it is decided by the players themselves.
Anang’s inclusion reflects his consistency, commanding displays and crucial performances between the posts throughout the 2026 season. His shot-stopping ability, composure under pressure and leadership at the back made him one of the standout goalkeepers in the Premier Division.
The former West Ham United goalkeeper has continued to build an impressive reputation since moving to the League of Ireland, producing a string of influential performances that helped his club remain competitive throughout the campaign.
Being selected in the Team of the Year is a significant milestone in Anang’s career and further highlights his growing stature in European football.
The recognition also strengthens the Ghanaian’s credentials as one of the country’s top-performing goalkeepers abroad, with his performances likely to keep him in contention for future opportunities with the Black Stars.
Anang’s latest achievement adds to the growing list of Ghanaian players making their mark across Europe, underlining the impact of Ghanaian footballers in leagues beyond the continent’s traditional powerhouses.
