Man City Thrash AEK Athens 5-1 as Phil Foden Shines Ahead of Aston Villa Clash

Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Champions League with an impressive 5-1 victory over AEK Athens at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night. Phil Foden was the star of the show, scoring a brilliant hat-trick to help his team recover from their recent defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

City entered the match determined to respond after losing 4-2 to PSG in their previous European fixture. They delivered an excellent performance, controlling the game and creating several scoring opportunities.

Elliot Anderson opened the scoring before Foden took centre stage with three goals. Rayan Cherki also found the net as City completed a convincing victory. The result gave the English side three important points in their Champions League campaign.

Erling Haaland was rested for the match after picking up a knock during City’s 3-2 Premier League victory over Ipswich Town. His absence did not prevent City from producing an attacking display, while Foden’s performance offered fresh encouragement to the supporters.

Manchester City will now turn their attention to Saturday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa. Manager Enzo Maresca will hope his players maintain their confidence and continue collecting points.

Haaland’s fitness will remain an important talking point ahead of the weekend fixture. Meanwhile, Foden will be eager to build on his excellent performance and establish himself as one of City’s key players again.

The victory over AEK Athens provides City with a timely boost as they prepare for another demanding test in their pursuit of domestic and European success.
