President William Ruto and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed have sparked reactions online after a photograph of the two leaders at what appears to be a modern dairy farm circulated on social media.

Ruto shared the image on his Facebook page on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, a day after hosting Abiy during Kenya’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The photograph shows the two leaders standing inside a barn, with Holstein cows behind them and feeding equipment lining the shed. However, the exact location of the farm and details of their visit have not been confirmed.

The image drew attention from Kenyans online, with many commenting on the leaders’ relaxed demeanour. Some contrasted the scene with the formal photographs usually associated with official diplomatic engagements.

Abiy attended Kenya’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on Tuesday, October 20, as Ruto’s special guest. The annual national event honours freedom fighters and other individuals recognised for their contributions to the country.

Kenya and Ethiopia maintain longstanding diplomatic and trade relations and cooperate on regional issues affecting the Horn of Africa. Abiy, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019, has engaged with Kenya on matters of regional diplomacy during his tenure.
