The appointment marks a significant career milestone for Moholola and has drawn congratulations from UNIVEN, which celebrated the achievement of its former student in securing one of the key leadership positions in South Africa’s aviation sector.

Moholola brings a strong academic background and professional experience in accounting, taxation and business management to the position. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Venda, as well as advanced qualifications from other leading institutions in South Africa and the United States.

His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Accountancy, a Master of Commerce in Taxation and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is also a Chartered Accountant of South Africa (CA(SA)), a professional designation that reflects his expertise in accounting and financial management.

Before his permanent appointment, Moholola served as acting CEO of ATNS from March 2025. This experience provided him with more than a year in a leadership role at the organisation before his appointment was confirmed.

Its responsibilities are important to the broader aviation network, including the coordination of air traffic and the provision of essential services to aircraft operating within its areas of responsibility.

Moholola’s appointment comes with the responsibility of leading the organisation and overseeing its strategic direction during his five-year tenure.

For the University of Venda, his achievement highlights the career progression of one of its graduates into a prominent national leadership role.

As he takes up the position on a permanent basis, attention will turn to his leadership of ATNS and the organisation’s continued role in supporting safe, reliable and efficient air navigation services in South Africa.
