Jessica Motaung Highlights COSAFA’s Role in Strengthening African Club Football

Jessica Motaung, Deputy Chairperson of the African Clubs Association (ACA), has praised the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) region for its competitive football environment and growing spirit of cooperation among clubs and football administrators.

Speaking on the importance of regional collaboration, Motaung emphasized that Southern Africa possesses the resources, talent, and football infrastructure necessary to make a meaningful contribution to the continued development of African club football. She noted that the strength of domestic leagues across the region provides a solid foundation for improving standards and increasing the competitiveness of clubs on the continental stage.

Her remarks underscore the ACA’s broader vision of fostering greater unity among African clubs while promoting professionalism, sustainability, and long-term growth within the game. As African football continues to evolve, cooperation between leagues, clubs, and governing bodies is increasingly viewed as essential for addressing common challenges and unlocking new opportunities.

Motaung believes that stronger partnerships can help clubs share knowledge, improve governance, and develop strategies that enhance both sporting performance and financial stability. Such collaboration could also create pathways for increased investment, improved youth development structures, and greater commercial opportunities across the continent.

The Council of Southern Africa Football Associations plays a significant role in advancing football throughout the region. Through various competitions and development initiatives, COSAFA provides member associations with opportunities to strengthen their football structures, create competitive environments for players, and encourage cooperation among stakeholders.
