Sixty-one Ghanaian nurses have been officially received in Grenada after arriving in the Caribbean nation to support its healthcare system.

A formal welcome ceremony was held for the nurses on October 16, 2026, marking an important step in their international professional journey.

The event celebrated their arrival and acknowledged the role they are expected to play in strengthening healthcare services in Grenada.

Their deployment opens a new chapter in their careers as they apply their skills and experience outside Ghana.

The move follows a memorandum of understanding on health cooperation signed between Ghana and Grenada in October 2025 to facilitate the recruitment of Ghanaian nurses for work in the Caribbean country.

The agreement came after discussions between President John Dramani Mahama and Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell on deepening bilateral ties, including collaboration in healthcare.

Grenada had expressed interest in engaging Ghanaian nurses and allied health professionals to help fill gaps in its health system.

The partnership forms part of Ghana’s wider Labour Export Programme, which aims to create more international job opportunities for skilled Ghanaians while assisting partner countries with their workforce needs.

The government has encouraged the deployed nurses to uphold high standards of competence, discipline and professionalism in order to protect and expand such opportunities for other Ghanaian professionals.
