KPC Reveals Sh5.9 Billion Dividend Is Guaranteed and Why Dangote Refinery Is Central to Its Storage

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has assured shareholders that its Sh5.9 billion dividend is secure as the company continues to invest in infrastructure and expand its fuel storage business.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Acting Managing Director Pius Mwendwa said the company had declared a dividend of 32 cents per share following the release of its latest financial results. He explained that KPC had set aside sufficient cash reserves to cover the payout.

Mwendwa also reported improved financial performance, with profit after tax rising by 13 per cent to Sh11.6 billion. Revenue increased by 9 per cent, from Sh39.5 billion to Sh43 billion, while profit before tax grew by 8 per cent to Sh17.5 billion.

He attributed the growth largely to increased fuel volumes handled across the region, with KPC recording deliveries of 10.6 billion litres.

Looking ahead, Mwendwa said the company’s focus would remain on fuel transportation and storage, areas he described as central to its long-term strategy.

He noted that the planned expansion of the Dangote Refinery’s operations could create additional demand for storage facilities as refined petroleum products enter regional markets.

According to Mwendwa, KPC is positioning itself to take advantage of these opportunities by strengthening its storage capacity and expanding its commercial activities. He also revealed that the company had signed a commercial agreement to store crude oil.

The plans form part of KPC’s broader strategy to grow its business while maintaining its role in the transportation and storage of petroleum products across the region.
