Barcelona suffer double defensive blow ahead of PSG Champions League clash

Barcelona will be without two key defenders, Jules Koundé and Eric García, for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash away to Paris Saint-Germain after both picked up injuries in Saturday’s 5-2 LaLiga win at Real Betis.

Koundé sustained a sprain to his left ankle and has been ruled out of the trip to the Parc des Princes. Barcelona say his availability for Sunday’s Clásico against Real Madrid will depend on how the injury progresses.

García suffered a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh and is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks, meaning he will also miss the Clásico.

The double blow leaves Hansi Flick short of natural right-back options for one of Barcelona’s toughest tests of the season. With Koundé and García both unavailable, the Barça coach will need to reshuffle his defence and find a solution capable of containing PSG’s attacking threat.
