What’s The Point Of Showing Us Expensive Cameras When Viewers Cannot Enjoy The Same Quality?—Bongo

According to a post on his official facebook account on Monday, October 19,2026,Ghanaian social commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas, has taken aim at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and its television station, GTV, over what he describes as poor picture quality during live outside broadcasts.

In a Facebook post, Bongo Ideas questioned why GTV reportedly has access to advanced 4K robotic cameras in its studios but appears to deliver significantly lower picture quality when covering major events outside the station.

He argued that investing in sophisticated broadcasting equipment should translate into better viewing experiences for Ghanaians, rather than remaining a feature of studio production.

“So GTV, you have 4K robotic cameras sitting comfortably in your studio, but when you go outside to cover major events, you give Ghanaians 220p quality?” he asked.

The commentator expressed frustration over the perceived gap between the station’s studio capabilities and the quality of its live coverage, suggesting that viewers should be able to enjoy clear images regardless of where a programme or event is being broadcast.

Bongo Ideas also questioned the value of displaying expensive camera equipment when audiences allegedly continue to experience poor visual quality during outside transmissions.

His criticism extended to GTV’s appeals for Ghanaians to pay their television licence fees to support the national broadcaster. He argued that such requests should be accompanied by improvements in the quality of services provided to the public.

According to him, viewers judge a broadcaster by the quality of its output rather than the equipment it possesses.

“We don’t watch cameras, we watch what the cameras produce,” he stated.
