Person shot multiple times at McDonald’s restaurant in North Carolina

EDENTON, N.C. (WBTV) – A person was shot multiple times at a McDonald’s restaurant in North Carolina on Sunday evening.

The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 18, at the McDonald’s on Virginia Road in the town of Edenton.

Edenton police indicated someone called 911 and reported shots were fired at the McDonald’s. When officers got there, they learned the person was shot multiple times but had left and was driven to the hospital. There, he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police quickly identified a juvenile as the suspected shooter and arrested him. He was taken to a juvenile detention center.

Officers said the suspected shooter and person shot “had a prior history” and knew each other.

Police did not say in an initial news release what led up to the shooting.

“Incidents such as this deeply impacts our community, and we understand the concern they generate,” the Edenton police chief said in the release. “Our department is committed to transparency, thorough investigation, and continued cooperation with community partners as we work to prevent acts of violence.”

Anyone who knows anything about the shooting should call the Edenton Police Department at 252-482-4444.

Edenton is out toward the Outer Banks, where the Chowan River dumps into the Albemarle Sound. The historic town was incorporated in 1722, and served as the first colonial capital of North Carolina.
