2nd suspect indicted for murder for Abilene fentanyl overdose

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A 2nd suspect has been indicted for murder in connection with an Abilene woman’s fentanyl overdose.

Aaron McVea was indicted for Murder by a Taylor County Grand Jury Thursday for the death of Megan Jiminez, who was found dead at an Abilene home in May 2025.

Court documents state 3 blue pills that were found near Jiminez’s body tested positive in a lab for fentanyl, and an autopsy showed Jiminez had fentanyl in her system.

The documents state messages sent from Jiminez’s phone to McVea indicated she was going to have her boyfriend, Tovein Peterson, meet him at a gas station to buy pills.

Surveillance footage from that gas station showed Peterson and Jiminez arrive; then Peterson got out, approached McVea’s window, and a “hand-to-hand transaction” took place, according to the documents, which state Peterson admitted to purchasing pills from McVea and then giving some of them to Jiminez.

Peterson was arrested and charged with Murder in November.

Both Peterson and McVea remain in the Taylor County Jail on a $1 million bond.
