According to People, Meghan keeps in touch with her loved ones on the West Coast and reportedly plans to visit them in California for the holidays. “She’s keeping busy, as she always does, and staying in close contact with her friends in Montecito,” an insider told the outlet. “She does miss home — and her mom. They’re planning to come back for the holidays. Of course, this means that Meghan and Prince Harry won’t be reuniting with the royal family on Christmas. A source recently told The Sunday Times that the Sussexes “know it would be too awkward and too difficult” to spend Christmas with Harry’s family.

“They also know they’re not going to be invited, and they’re not waiting for an invitation,” they added.

However, the couple is reportedly meeting with Charles and Queen Camilla sometime before the holidays. Insiders told royal commentator Rob Shuter that it’s already been confirmed, but the date and time remain a secret.

“This is not a casual ‘let’s get together sometime,’” one insider said. “Nobody drops in on the King. If Harry and Meghan are in Charles’s diary, it is because he wants them there. This is deliberate.”

A second source insisted that the four are “determined to keep the fragile reconciliation moving forward,” stressing the importance of knowing another meeting is happening. “Charles is making room for his son again, and Harry knows how significant that is.”

Reports of Meghan and Harry’s alleged holiday plans come after claims that the former actress is “homesick.” A source spoke with Star and said Meghan’s “doing her best to keep her chin up and put on a happy face for Harry because he’s been begging her to cheer up and have some patience,” but ultimately, “all the pub lunches in the world aren’t going to change the fact that she is desperately homesick already.”

“She misses their property in Montecito, she misses going to the beach, she misses her friends,” the source continued. “She’s so grateful that her best friend [Kelly Zajfen] came out with her kids and husband for a visit to try and help her get through this transition, but it’s not as though she can stay forever.”

Meghan’s made friends in the UK, and Harry “assumed that would help”—but he is sorely mistaken. “…this is about more than just being lonely. The uncomfortable truth is that Meghan’s struggling with the stuffiness and slow pace of the U.K. so this isn’t something that can really be fixed, even for a problem solver like her.”

Not only is Meghan allegedly homesick, but she’s also reportedly struggling in her marriage with Harry. RadarOnline reported that the pair is “discovering that wanting to build a new chapter together and actually making that chapter work are two very different things. There was a great deal of optimism when they first discussed returning to Britain, particularly on Harry’s side.”

“He genuinely believed they could establish something financially rewarding, reconnect with parts of his old life and give their children a sense of belonging in the country where he grew up,” an insider explained. “But the practical reality has been considerably more complicated, and that is beginning to expose some fundamental differences between them and is pushing their marriage to the limit.”
