2 Women Receive KSh 530,000 Via M-Pesa Before Being Arrested by Police in Kajiado

Two women have been arrested in Kiserian, Kajiado County, over allegations of defrauding a man of KSh 530,000 in a fake chicks supply deal.

The suspects are accused of posing as poultry suppliers and convincing customers to pay for chicks they never intended to deliver.Their alleged scheme involved sending potential buyers videos of packed boxes labelled with customers’ names to make them believe their orders were ready for delivery.

According to details shared about the incident, the complainant had ordered 7,500 chicks valued at KSh 530,000.

He reportedly paid an initial deposit of KSh 350,000 after communicating with the women and receiving what appeared to be evidence that his order was being prepared.

However, when the agreed delivery date arrived, the buyer was allegedly told to clear the remaining balance due to high demand for the chicks.

Trusting the suppliers, he made the additional payment.

The man later became suspicious after the women allegedly failed to deliver the chicks and began giving him excuses.

He eventually realised that he had lost his money, with the suspected fraudsters reportedly becoming unreachable after receiving the payments.Rather than abandon the matter, the complainant allegedly devised a plan to help police catch the suspects.

He reportedly contacted the women again using a different phone number and pretended to be another customer interested in purchasing chicks.

Believing they had found another buyer, the women allegedly agreed to the new deal and indicated that they could supply the chicks.

The arrangement provided an opportunity for the complainant to help authorities track them down.

The suspects were subsequently arrested and presented in court to face the allegations. Their arrest marked a major development in the investigation into the alleged poultry scam.

The court reportedly granted each woman cash bail of KSh 250,000 as the case proceeded through the legal process.

Buyers are encouraged to verify sellers, confirm their physical locations and seek reliable references before transferring money.

Videos, photographs and messages showing supposedly prepared goods should not be treated as sufficient proof that a seller is genuine.
