Ndindi Nyoro Gives Ruto Government Until Weekend to Lower Fuel Prices, Demands End to G-to-G Deal

People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has launched a fresh attack on President William Ruto’s administration over the latest fuel price increases, demanding immediate action to ease the financial burden on Kenyans.

Nyoro has given the government until the weekend to reduce pump prices, warning that ordinary citizens should not continue struggling while, in his view, a few individuals benefit from the country’s petroleum business.

Speaking at the PPK headquarters while addressing party aspirants and delegates, the Kiharu MP questioned the justification for the latest adjustments announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

He argued that the cost of imported petroleum products did not support the higher prices being charged to consumers and accused the government of allowing importers and distributors to enjoy increased profit margins.

Nyoro also renewed his criticism of the government-to-government (G-to-G) fuel importation arrangement, which he claims has failed to deliver affordable fuel. He challenged President Ruto to explain how the deal benefits Kenyans and called for its scrapping.

The PPK leader further demanded transparency in the management of Kenya’s petroleum resources, including the country’s oil prospects in Turkana. He maintained that locally available resources should contribute to lowering fuel costs and improving the lives of citizens.

Nyoro also proposed reviewing taxes and levies imposed on petroleum products, arguing that Parliament could take measures to reduce pump prices and cushion households against rising living costs.

His remarks come as the latest fuel price increases threaten to raise transport costs and push up the prices of essential goods. Higher fuel costs affect not only motorists but also farmers, traders, manufacturers and families already facing economic pressure.

The government now faces growing calls to explain the latest price adjustments and demonstrate how its petroleum policies are protecting consumers.

Nyoro’s weekend deadline has placed renewed focus on fuel affordability, the G-to-G arrangement and accountability in Kenya’s energy sector.
