A 23-year-old woman, identified as Theresa Darkoah, has reportedly died after allegedly being poisoned by a suitor at Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The suspect, Kofi Emma, popularly known as Blackee, is said to have had a close relationship with the deceased and had allegedly been giving her money in an attempt to win her affection.

According to a report by adomonline.com on January 2, 2025, the incident followed a disagreement over GH¢100.

“Theresa reportedly requested the money from the suspect, claiming she needed it to repair her standing fan before allowing him to visit her. After the money was sent, she allegedly stopped responding to his calls,” the report stated.

Reports indicated that the suspect later demanded a refund and issued threats when the money was not returned.

It is further alleged that he poisoned some medication and sent it to the deceased through a messenger.

Theresa’s condition reportedly worsened shortly after taking the medication, and she was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Medical officials are said to have confirmed that she ingested a toxic substance.

The suspect is currently on the run, while police have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, the report added.
