Disturbing Photo Of Severed Hand Of Newborn Baby After Treatment At Barongo Hospital Moves Many

New disturbing photo has resurfaced online showing the swelling, turned black of newborn baby at Baringo hospital moves many as mother seeks answers.

A mother, Casty Karimi, is seeking answers after her newborn, Baby Princess Jepyegon, reportedly developed severe hand complications while receiving treatment at Baringo County Referral Hospital.

The baby, born on September 27, 2026, was admitted to the facility with birth asphyxia and jaundice.

However, what was expected to be a period of medical care for the newborn has turned into a distressing experience for the family following concerns over the condition of the infant’s hand.

According to the family’s account, the baby’s hand began swelling and eventually turned black, raising questions about the medical attention provided and whether appropriate intervention was carried out in time.

The family alleges that there was a delay in addressing the worsening condition despite the visible changes to the newborn’s hand.

They are now seeking an explanation from the hospital regarding what caused the complication and the steps taken by medical staff to manage it.

A Doppler scan reportedly conducted on October 3, 2026, revealed compartment syndrome, a serious condition that occurs when pressure builds up within a muscle compartment and restricts blood circulation.

If not treated promptly, the condition can cause severe tissue damage and other complications.

The family has also raised concerns over a separate incident involving the baby’s other hand.

They allege that a tourniquet was left in place following an unsuccessful attempt to draw blood, raising further questions about the procedures used during the infant’s treatment.

The disturbing claims have drawn attention to the newborn’s condition, with the family hoping to establish exactly what happened and whether any medical errors contributed to the complications.

Baringo County Assembly Health Committee Chairperson Nixon Lemlem and County Chief Officer for Health Dr. Nancy Chesire visited the facility alongside members of the hospital management following the incident.
