NPP rejects Emelia Agbenyo’s appointment as deputy EC Chair

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment of Madam Emelia Agbenyo as Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), accusing the government of undermining public confidence in the country’s electoral management body.In a statement signed by its National Communications Director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the opposition party argued that Agbenyo’s alleged affiliation with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) raises concerns about the Commission’s impartiality ahead of the 2028 general elections.
