UCL: Osimhen fails to save Galatasaray from 4-1 thrashing to Barcelona

According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Victor Osimhen returned to Galatasaray’s starting line-up after recovering from injury, but his comeback ended in disappointment as the Turkish side lost 4–1 to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Galatasaray made a strong start in front of their home supporters and took the lead through Aleksey Batrakov.

The hosts appeared to have added another goal later in the match, but a VAR review ruled it out. Barcelona gradually took control and turned the contest around with four goals.

João Cancelo, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi found the net for Hansi Flick’s team. Their goals secured another victory and, according to the report, extended Barcelona’s perfect record this season.

The result leaves Barcelona at the top of the Champions League standings, while Galatasaray are placed 34th. Osimhen was unable to score on his first start since returning from injury, but he will be eager to make an impact in the team’s next match.

Galatasaray now need to regroup quickly and put the European defeat behind them. They are scheduled to face Gençlerbirliği in the league on Saturday, where Osimhen and his teammates will have an opportunity to respond with a stronger performance and return to winning ways.
