Dele Farotimi Reacts As Man Asks Why He’s Supporting Peter Obi Over Omoyele Sowore

Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi has taken to his official X account on October 13, 2026 to react after an X user asked why he’s supporting NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi over AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.

In the statement that surfaced online, the X user recalled how Dele Farotimi praised the ideology of Omoyele Sowore in the past.

“I also remember you saying in 2022 that if ideology were the consideration, you would support Sowore rather than Obi. So I’m curious, considering how different Obi’s economic and political philosophy is from the social democratic ideals you champion, what convinced you that his presidency would bring about the kind of systemic change you have consistently advocated for?”.

In a statement that Dele Farotimi shared on his official X handle, he said when Peter Obi was on the ballot in 2019 as a vice presidential candidate, he didn’t vote. He said his choices are more nuanced that.

According to Dele Farotimi on his official X account;

“Who did I vote for in 2019? Sowore was on the ballot, Peter Obi was the VP on Atiku’s ticket. I abstained from voting and I publicly announced my decision. My choices are more nuanced that that”.
