Kaizer Chiefs Drop To Fourth As AmaZulu Strengthen Their Top-Three Push

The Betway Premiership title race is beginning to heat up, with Mamelodi Sundowns leading the standings, Orlando Pirates hot on their heels and AmaZulu establishing themselves as serious contenders.

Sundowns remain top of the table with 23 points from nine matches. They have recorded seven victories and two draws, maintaining an unbeaten start to the campaign.

However, Pirates are keeping the pressure on the defending champions, sitting second with 22 points from eight games. The Buccaneers have won seven matches and drawn once, with their recent 3-0 triumph over TS Galaxy strengthening their position. With just one point separating the two sides and Pirates having a game in hand, the battle for first place remains wide open.

AmaZulu occupy third position with 19 points from eight matches, having registered six wins, one draw and one defeat. Their impressive form has created a five-point gap over Kaizer Chiefs, who are fourth with 14 points.

Chiefs remain unbeaten after three victories and five draws, but their inability to turn draws into wins has slowed their progress. They will need greater consistency in front of goal to challenge the leading teams.

Milford sit fifth with 12 points, followed by Sekhukhune United on 11. Stellenbosch are seventh with 10 points, while Golden Arrows and Chippa United have eight apiece.

Polokwane City and Durban City have seven points each, followed by TS Galaxy on six. Kruger United have four points, while Siwelele and Richards Bay have three apiece. Marumo Gallants occupy the bottom spot with two points from seven matches.

With several teams having played different numbers of games, the standings could still change significantly.

For now, Sundowns remain the team to beat, but Pirates are applying pressure, AmaZulu are pushing forward, and Chiefs must start converting draws into victories to close the gap.
