Slow Down, Slow Down – Passengers Scream For Their Lives As Driver Turns Trip Into Crash

A scary video circulating on social media has left many Ghanaians angry.

The video shows a driver driving recklessly on the road while his own passengers scream in panic and beg him to slow down.

In the video, you can hear the engine roaring and the car shaking at top speed. Passengers are shouting “slow down, slow down!” but the driver keeps pushing. Some passengers are seen holding tight to their seats, terrified that the next minute could be their last.

It is the same story we see every day on our roads – one driver decides to show he is a “sharp driver” and the whole car pays with fear, and sometimes with blood.

What makes this video painful is that the passengers spoke up. In many trotro and long buses, passengers sit quiet even when the driver is killing them. But in this case, they found courage. As one clip description says, a concerned passenger takes a stand for the safety of everyone on board as the vehicle travels at a reckless speed.

Many Ghanaians in the comments say this is why accidents keep happening. Drivers don’t listen. They overtake on wrong sides, cause obstruction and endanger other road users.

And there are consequences. Just recently, a Ghanaian driver, Agyarko Richard, who was captured in a widely circulated video driving a Voxy recklessly along the Kumasi-Accra highway and endangering other road users, was convicted by the La Motor Court after pleading guilty. Upon his own plea, the court sentenced him to two months’ imprisonment with hard labour and imposed a fine of 260 penalty units, equivalent to GH¢3,120.

The police said the driver, who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Voxy with registration number EN 551-26, was seen driving recklessly and endangering the lives of other road users.

The lesson from this new video is simple: Your life is more important than the driver’s ego. If he is driving like a madman, shout. Record. Report him to the police at the next stop.

Because one reckless driver can kill everyone in the car, and the people screaming in that video knew it.
