Lawal: I’m Not Contesting Any Election, But I Can Make You Have Heat, And I Will Be Laughing- Wike

According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike cautioned Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal over referring to him as “that guy,” saying he could make matters difficult for the governor in Zamfara.

Speaking at his monthly media briefing in Abuja, Wike discussed his political differences with some governors in his party.

He said that while he was not pursuing elected office, he retained enough political influence to challenge those who antagonised him.

Wike said he was offended by Lawal’s remark and warned that any steps he took against the governor might be seen as an effort to stir trouble in Zamfara.

Wike suggested that he could raise the costs for his political rivals, making them spend more than they had expected.

He said his current role had not diminished his political influence or relevance. Even without running for office, he argued, he could create difficulties for those who underestimated him.

During the media interaction, Wike said that some governors in his party liked the person who had referred to him as “that guy.”

He added that he did not want to name the person, warning that if he stirred trouble in that governor’s state, people would blame him.

“I’m not contesting any election, but I can make you have heat, I’ll be laughing, but you’re having heat. You’re supposed to spend N10, but I’ll make you spend N50. It’s not necessary.”
