Trump’s new press secretary Katie Zacharia to hold first White House briefing today

US President Donald Trump’s new press secretary, Katie Zacharia, is set to hold her first official White House press briefing on Tuesday, 24NewsHD TV reported.

Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Zacharia would begin her duties with an introductory press briefing scheduled for 9:30 am on Tuesday.

According to US broadcaster NPR, Zacharia is taking up the role at a challenging time for the Trump administration, with the president’s approval ratings facing a significant decline and Republicans working to avoid losses in the upcoming midterm elections.

Managing relations with the media is also expected to be a major challenge as disagreements between the administration and journalists continue.

Zacharia, 41, is a lawyer and mother of four.

According to NPR, she studied at Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law, graduating from the university in 2007 and earning her law degree in 2011.

She has worked with several conservative organisations and previously served on the advisory board of an organisation opposed to abortion.

Zacharia has also held public affairs positions at the US Department of Homeland Security, where she served as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs and as a spokesperson.

More recently, she worked as a senior communications adviser at Trump Media and Technology Group, the company that operates Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.

She has also appeared several times as a political commentator on Fox News and Newsmax, where she voiced support for the president.

Her first White House briefing will offer an early indication of how she plans to handle questions from journalists and communicate the administration’s policies at a politically sensitive time.
