A young man from Bethalto is facing numerous charges following a traffic stop in Nashville, Illinois, over the weekend. 18 year old Kayden Robertson was one of several people in a car during the stop Sunday night when police were investigating reports of vehicle burglaries.

According to Nashville Police, officers were patrolling the northeast area of town when one officer spotted a suspicious vehicle driving on side streets. During the traffic stop on the vehicle, police say a passenger provided a false name and was removed from the vehicle. He was later identified as Robertson and arrested for obstructing identification. Officers then searched the vehicle where they say they discovered a loaded handgun under Robertson’s seat. He was taken to the Washington County jail where police say they also found stolen items on his person. Robertson was also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, armed violence, burglary to a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of debit/credit cards and obstructing justice. Another adult and two juveniles in the vehicle at the time of the stop were released from the scene.
