The Exact Amount Harry Was Paid to Talk About Diana Finally Revealed After He Was Accused of ‘Cashing in’ on Her Death

Hollywood insider Rob Shuter is reporting that Harry received a guaranteed $250,000 for his appearance in the MasterClass Redefining Grief: Building Resilience Through Loss, where he and renowned grief neuroscientist Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor discuss grief in general. “Harry isn’t an ordinary celebrity guest,” one insider explained to Naughty But Nice. “The guarantee was $250,000, and for that money, he agreed to discuss his mother, Princess Diana.”

Despite the paycheck, Harry reportedly set some limits. “Harry was willing to talk about Diana, grief and losing his mother. What he wasn’t willing to discuss was William, Catherine or Uncle Andrew,” the source claimed. “Those subjects were off-limits.”

During the MasterClass, the Duke of Sussex admitted he still thinks of his mother often—he even confessed to speaking to a portrait of her.

Even though Harry addressed much of his life in his 2023 memoir Spare, a lot of what he discussed in the MasterClass was new information. “Harry has already told much of his story,” a royal insider told Shuter. “Diana remains the one subject audiences will always pay to hear him discuss.”

Shuter even indicated this is a major shift from Harry’s previous business strategy. “Harry isn’t selling royal secrets this time,” the source added. “He’s selling his own memories. And those memories are worth a quarter of a million dollars.”

However, critics have nonetheless accused Harry of “cashing in” on his mother’s tragic passing. The Daily Mail had previously reported that Harry was paid $100,000 “plus a share of subscription revenues” for the MasterClass.

“Don’t be fooled, Harry is using his mother’s memory to earn money,” one X user wrote. “To join MasterClass, you have to pay for a subscription and the celebrities and famous people that have filmed segments just like Harry, are paid. This isn’t about helping others. This is about cashing in.”

Meanwhile, a second X user insisted the MasterClass is “more evidence that Harry and Meghan are broke.”

Plus, there has been a lot of criticism regarding Harry’s description of leaving the UK, particuarly about allegedly feeling depressed after moving away: “Harry is risking reinforcing the very image he has spent years trying to escape – that of a millionaire prince who seems incapable of recognizing just how fortunate his circumstances are,” a royal source told RadarOnline, adding that there’s a “huge section of the public who hear him describing how difficult life became after leaving Britain and think he’s behaving like a millionaire crybaby.”

“Millions of people experience depression, anxiety, and overwhelming stress while worrying about paying their rent, keeping their jobs, or putting food on the table. They don’t have the luxury of retreating to another country and taking time away from their responsibilities.”

Harry’s MasterClass, however, discusses not just grief… but also how to get through it. “Nobody told me joy was still allowed. That it wasn’t a betrayal. This class will hopefully give you that permission,” he said at one point. “What you’ve lived through isn’t just something to survive; it’s the foundation for what comes next.”
