The Moment I Shoot My Last Scene I Am Off, I Don’t Spend One Second, or Accept Two Scripts- Edochie

According to a video posted by Femi Babs TV on Monday, October 12, 2026, veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has explained his professional discipline, revealing that he leaves a film set immediately after completing his final scene and never accepts two movie scripts at the same time.

Edochie made the disclosure during an interview on The African Cinema with Zualakate, where the host recalled a conversation they had more than six years ago about the actor’s personal values and approach to life.

According to the host, Edochie’s lessons extended beyond the movie industry and reflected the principles that guided his everyday conduct. Among the examples he highlighted were that the actor had never hit his wife and had never visited a native doctor’s shrine outside the requirements of a movie role.

Speaking about his working habits, Edochie explained that he does not linger on a film set after completing his assigned scenes. He also stressed that he prefers to concentrate on one production at a time rather than accept multiple scripts simultaneously.

“In those days when you used to act with people, once you finish acting, the moment I shoot my last scene, I am off. I don’t spend one second. First of all, I don’t accept two scripts at a time. No. One script,” he said.

The veteran actor also recalled a conversation involving a former governor who shares his birth year, 1947. According to Edochie, the man, who is known for playing muscular roles, follows a similar approach to film production by refusing to accept two scripts at once.

Edochie said his son once overheard the former governor expressing that position and immediately recognised the similarity between the man’s working principles and those of his father.

His son reportedly told him, “This is what you have always said.” Edochie explained that maintaining such discipline has always been his preferred way of working.

The actor further recounted an experience involving payment for his professional services. He said someone once informed him that the full amount owed to him could not be paid immediately and proposed transferring ₦2 million into his account as an initial payment.

Edochie said he rejected the arrangement, insisting that the person should retain the money until the full payment could be made. He maintained that he does not operate under such conditions and prefers to work according to his established principles.

However, he clarified that his comments were not intended as criticism of his late colleague, Sam Loco, whom he mentioned while discussing the importance of taking breaks.

According to Edochie, Sam Loco did not give himself enough time to rest. He emphasised that adequate rest is essential, warning that many people lose their lives because they fail to take time off from work.
