“He Knows Very Little” — Duale on Muturi Over Resignation Call

A heated political confrontation has erupted between Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Democratic Party (DP) leader Justin Muturi.

The intense exchange follows controversial concerns raised regarding the national response to an imported Ebola case in Kenya.

The public spat highlights growing tensions over emergency preparedness and public screening protocols at international entry points.

Muturi, the former Attorney General, issued a stern statement demanding an independent investigation into the Ministry of Health’s handling of the incident.

He went further to call for the immediate resignation of the Health Cabinet Secretary if transparent accountability cannot be provided.

In a swift and unyielding rejoinder, CS Duale fiercely dismissed the resignation demands, taking a direct personal swipe at the veteran politician.

The friction ignited after details emerged regarding an imported case of the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus.

The patient, a Kenyan citizen returning from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), passed through standard screening at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

According to official updates, the individual was later taken to Nairobi Hospital, where samples officially confirmed the fatal infection.

Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi questioned whether established screening and reporting procedures were strictly adhered to upon arrival.

Muturi claimed that sensitive whistleblower information suggested the traveler may have been cleared via telephone communication rather than rigorous evaluation.

He demanded that the Ministry of Health, airport management, and medical facilities preserve all relevant records to establish an accurate sequence of events.

Responding directly through a public statement on X, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale did not hold back his intense irritation.

Duale labeled the former Attorney General a dangerous leader who possesses minimal understanding yet acts as an absolute authority.

“The most dangerous leader is not necessarily the one who knows nothing, but the one who knows very little and believes he knows everything, and that’s Hon Muturi,” Duale wrote.

The Cabinet Secretary firmly defended the actions of the Port Health officials and the broader surveillance infrastructure.

Health officials explained that the patient had been on prior medication while traveling, which likely masked standard symptoms like fever from thermal scanners.

The Ministry of Health reiterated that over 650,000 passengers have been screened effectively across fifteen border entry points.

The heavy exchange has quickly escalated beyond standard health policy, evolving into a broader battle over political narratives.

Muturi had previously cautioned the health ministry against exploiting the confirmed case to alter democratic spaces ahead of the 2027 polls.

He argued that Kenyans deserve visible, active leadership and clear, evidence-based public updates rather than simple administrative announcements.

On the other hand, defenders of the health ministry claim that current criticisms are politically motivated to undermine ongoing structural reforms.

Health officials have confirmed that extensive contact tracing is underway, with over one hundred close contacts placed under professional quarantine.

The Ministry of Health maintains that there is no widespread outbreak in the country and that emergency teams remain fully activated to mitigate risks.
