NDC Drops Huge Amount Members Are to Pay

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a filing fee of GH¢5,000 for members seeking to contest the position of constituency chairperson in its upcoming 2026 constituency executive elections.

The amount represents the highest filing fee among the party’s constituency-level executive positions, as the NDC prepares to elect new officers to strengthen its grassroots structures nationwide.

Under the approved fee schedule, aspirants for the positions of vice chairman, secretary and organiser will each pay GH¢3,000. Those contesting for communication officer will be required to pay GH¢2,500.

Candidates seeking to become constituency treasurer, Zongo Caucus coordinator, youth organiser or women’s organiser will each pay GH¢1,500.

Meanwhile, the party has set a filing fee of GH¢1,000 for aspirants contesting deputy secretary, deputy treasurer, deputy communication officer, deputy youth organiser and deputy women’s organiser positions, as well as other designated youth representative roles.

The eight additional executive member positions will attract a filing fee of GH¢500 each.

Beyond the respective filing fees, all aspirants are expected to pay GH¢200 to acquire nomination forms as part of the election process.

The party has also made provision for female aspirants and persons with disabilities (PWDs), granting them a 50 per cent reduction in the approved filing fees. However, a special condition applies to the women’s organiser position, with separate information indicating that female aspirants with disabilities remain eligible for the concession when contesting that role.

The fee structure is part of arrangements for the NDC’s 2026 constituency executive elections, which are expected to produce a new crop of party officers responsible for coordinating activities, mobilising members and overseeing political organisation at the constituency level.

The elections form an important part of the party’s internal processes as it works to renew its leadership structures and maintain its presence across the country.
