Todayโs Headlines: Tinubu Will Get 80% of Sokoto Votes โ Dingyadi; Obasanjo, Others to Grace FT Africa Summit
Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the APC National Chairman, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure at least 80 percent of the votes cast in Sokoto State during the 2027 general elections. He made the statement on Sunday in Dundaye town, headquarters of Dundaye District in Wamakko Local Government Area, while attending an empowerment programme organised by the Managing Director of the Sokoto State Media Corporation, Alhaji Labaran Lumo Dundaye, which supported 300 indigent persons drawn from several districts.Dingyadi declared that the APC is fully prepared to win every elective position in the state, including the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and the presidency. He projected that the party would capture no less than 80 percent of all votes in Sokoto and further claimed the North-West region, with its more than 20 million votes, would deliver at least 15 million for the APC. He attributed this optimism to the structures already put in place, including campaign committees operating from ward to zonal levels.

The Lagos State High Court sitting in Osborne Foreshore, Ikoyi, on Monday struck out an application by Eurapharma Care Services Nigeria Limited, operators of Euracare Multi-Specialist Hospital, seeking to stop the coronerโs inquest into the death of Nkanu Esege, son of celebrated Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie.
Justice Aishat Opesanwo struck out the application after dismissing the hospitalโs arguments that the cremation of the deceasedโs body deprived the coroner of jurisdiction to conduct the inquest and that the order for receiving evidence violated its right to a fair hearing.
The judge held that the inquest was required by law and that the absence of the deceasedโs body did not, in itself, invalidate the coronerโs decision to proceed with the inquiry.
