‘When the right time comes’ — Kofi Kinaata on winning Artist of the Year

Renowned highlife artist Kofi Kinaata remains optimistic that he will one day clinch the prestigious ‘Artiste of the Year’ title at the Ghana Music Awards despite not winning it yet.

Speaking to Joy Prime’s Roselyn Felli, Kinaata addressed concerns from some fans about his lack of wins in that category.

However, he said “There is time for everybody. When the right time comes, it will happen.”

The crooner, whose real name is Martin King Arthur, dismissed notions that past nominations suggested missed opportunities due to timing.

“I heard some of my fans talk about it but there is time for everybody. When the right time comes, it will happen,” he stated.

Kinaata emphasized that his primary goal is serving his audience with songs they can relate to and not to win awards.

“That is not the target. I just want to serve the people, I just want to give them songs that they can relate to. I just want to give them songs for every occasion, situation and condition,” he said.

The Efiakuma-born singer lost the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award to Kuami Eugene at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards, a time many tipped him to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, Kofi Kinaata who got nominations this year for ‘Best Reggae Song’ and ‘Best Highlife Artiste’, is currently promoting his latest single ‘Effiakuma Broken Heart’.
