Today’s Headlines:Atiku’s Shallow Politics Can’t Buy Nigeria’s Future-Presidency;What Pastor Adeboye told me when I met him — Sowore
ABUJA — THE Presidency has said that the Nigerian electorate is far too sophisticated to trade long-term national economic security for what it described as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s shallow, short-term demagoguery.
It also said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has chosen the hard, courageous, and necessary path in its policy decisions, adding that by coupling market deregulation with targeted price-smoothing mechanisms, strategic reserves, rapid CNG rollout, and disciplined fiscal management, the administration is laying a permanent foundation for sustainable prosperity.
Reacting to the recent press conference by the former Vice President and the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Abuja—where he allegedly attacked NNPC Retail’s 30-day discount on petrol price and a modulation framework—the Presidency said what Alhaji Atiku did was “a seminal example of shallow, election-laced demagoguery.”
Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has recounted his meeting with the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, saying the cleric told him he prayed for him regularly and believed he would triumph.
Sowore said Adeboye also told him that he knew his ways were pure during their meeting at the church’s national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
The activist disclosed this in an interview on the Naija Unfiltered Podcast, about a week after attending the RCCG’s National Thanksgiving Service.
In a post on X after the service, Sowore had said Adeboye offered to pray for him during a private meeting.

The Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, has urged Nigerians to embrace Nigerian-made herbal medicine and reduce their dependence on foreign counterparts.
The Deputy Director, AB Pharmaceutical Services, Oluwatoyin Afolabi, said Nigeria’s continued reliance on foreign herbal products, despite the country’s indigenous medicinal resources and growing research capacity, amounted to a form of economic and medical dependence that must be urgently addressed.
Afolabi spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday during a two-day AB Pharmaceuticals Business Summit organised by ABUAD in collaboration with pharmaceutical marketers.
At the summit, ABUAD presented three pharmaceutical products of the university – AB Mal, ABUAD Virucidine and AB Health Animation 250mg, as part of efforts to expand the reach of the products developed by the university.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday pushed back against US counterpart Donald Trump’s call for him to be replaced, but said his country could hold elections if Russia agreed to a 60-day ceasefire.
Tensions have flared once again between the two leaders after Trump on Friday announced he would waive sanctions on a large quantity of Russian diesel to help lower fuel prices ahead of the November US midterm elections.
On Saturday, Trump lashed out at Zelensky over Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries, arguing they have contributed to soaring diesel prices, and called for him to be replaced by a leader who will settle the war.
“First of all, with all respect to President Trump, it’s up to our society, up to our people to choose one or another leader,” Zelensky told ABC News in a televised interview on Sunday.
