The Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said it responded Friday, Oct. 9, at about 8:27 p.m. to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash on River Drive near East Cloverdale Road. The sheriff’s office said the vehicle involved fled the scene after striking the pedestrian.
Deputies responded along with EMTs with South Lane Fire, but the person who was hit did not survive. The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 49-year-old Justin Dewayne Jones.
Major Crash investigators were called to assist. LCSO said the vehicle may be a gray or silver hatchback-style car or small SUV and may have light damage to the front or driver side.
LCSO has asked anyone with information that could help identify the vehicle that was involved with the crash to contact them at 541-682-4150.
