Tanishaa Mukerji Slams ‘Elitist Hindus’ for Criticising India, Says ‘We Don’t Want You Here Trying to Put Us Down’

Actress Tanishaa Mukerji has criticised what she described as “well-educated elitist Hindus”, accusing a section of people of looking down on India while expressing admiration for Western countries.

Mukerji shared a lengthy post on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, apparently responding to discussions involving technology billionaire Elon Musk and an Indian billionaire. Her remarks came amid a debate over Musk’s reported displeasure with the obstacles facing his Starlink satellite internet service in entering the Indian market.

“I am truly shocked by the blind hate of some supposedly well educated elitist Hindus that live with a complete British hangover!” Mukerji wrote.

“If u love london and America so much. Pls leave. We don’t want u here trying to put us down!” she added, acknowledging that India had many problems but arguing that progress takes time.

The actress also criticised what she described as the tendency to label supporters of the government as “andhbhakts” and uneducated, while portraying those who support groups or factions operating from countries such as the United States and Germany as “cool and woke”.

Mukerji did not name the people she was criticising in her post.

“There is a war for ur mindset. Ur attention and ur thoughts. But pls don’t be so influenced by media that you refuse to use ur own common sense!” she wrote, adding that public discourse should be logical and factual and that a society governed by laws was essential for safety.

The actress’s remarks followed a controversy on X involving Musk, who has raised concerns about Starlink’s inability to launch its satellite internet services in India. Musk alleged that the company’s entry into the Indian market had been blocked at the behest of an Indian billionaire.

Mukerji had earlier drawn attention for describing the Maharashtra state electricity board as a “mafia”.
