Kano 2027: NDC Speaks On Gwarzo’s Omission From INEC List, Assures Members
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State has explained the reason behind the omission of its governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo, from the final list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging party members to remain calm.
According to a report by Daily Post on October 11, 2026, the party attributed the development to a computer glitch, claiming that INEC had acknowledged the problem and promised to correct it.
The party’s Public Relations Officer, Yusif Fasaha, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Kano following the publication of the final list of governorship candidates on Saturday.
Fasaha said the omission was not caused by any error on the part of the party, insisting that all necessary procedures had been completed and the candidate had met the requirements for the election.
He explained that the party had contacted INEC to seek clarification over the absence of Gwarzo’s name from the list.
According to him, the commission attributed the problem to a technical issue and assured the party that the situation would be addressed.
“I want to assure you that, as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us,” he said.
Fasaha further stated that INEC had promised to release a corrected list containing the candidate’s name by Monday.
He urged party members and supporters to exercise patience, expressing confidence that the matter would be resolved.
“We have consulted INEC, and they told us that the problem was from the computer and that they would rectify it.
“So, everybody should remain calm; Between now and Monday, another list containing his name will be released,” he added.
The NDC spokesman also disclosed that the party had reviewed the published list and would continue discussions with the relevant authorities to ensure the issue was addressed.
Meanwhile, the final list reportedly featured 17 governorship candidates and their respective running mates from various political parties contesting in Kano State.
Governor Abba Yusuf was listed as the APC governorship candidate, with Murtala Sule-Garo named as his running mate.
The NDC’s explanation comes amid attention surrounding the omission of its candidate, with the party maintaining that the development was a technical issue awaiting correction by the electoral commission.
