Gordon Scores First Barcelona Goal in 3-0 Victory Over Getafe
According to BBC Sport on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Anthony Gordon scored his first goal for Barcelona as the Spanish champions secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Getafe in La Liga.
Barcelona continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 season with another strong performance at the Spotify Camp Nou. The victory extended their winning run in the league to eight matches and strengthened their position at the top of the table.
Gordon opened the scoring just two minutes after the match began. The England international showed his attacking quality by taking on Getafe defenders before firing towards goal. His effort took a deflection off Mario Martin and went past goalkeeper David Soria to give Barcelona an early advantage.
The goal was an important moment for Gordon, who joined Barcelona from Newcastle United during the summer transfer window. Although he had already impressed with his performances and contributions to the team’s attack, he had been waiting to score his first goal for the Catalan club.
His breakthrough gave Barcelona confidence and helped the team establish control of the contest. The home side continued to create chances, while Getafe struggled to cope with their opponents’ pressing and attacking movement.
Barcelona doubled their lead in the 29th minute through Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian striker took advantage of a defensive mistake by Getafe’s Zaid Romero, collected the ball inside the penalty area and calmly finished to make it 2-0.
It was a memorable occasion for Jesus, who made his first start for Barcelona after joining the club in the summer. His goal provided further evidence of the attacking options available to manager Hansi Flick.
Getafe attempted to respond but found it difficult to create clear opportunities against Barcelona’s organised defence. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia also helped the home side maintain their advantage when called upon.
Barcelona completed the scoring in the 73rd minute. Young winger Lamine Yamal delivered an excellent cross into the penalty area, allowing defender Jules Kounde to finish from close range.
The third goal ended any remaining hopes of a Getafe comeback and confirmed another convincing result for the hosts.
The victory was particularly encouraging because Barcelona managed it without their leading scorer, Raphinha, who missed the match with a thigh injury sustained during the international break.
Barcelona’s latest win also matched the club’s record of eight consecutive victories at the beginning of a La Liga season, previously achieved in the 2013/14 campaign.
With Gordon opening his Barcelona scoring account and Jesus and Kounde also finding the net, Flick’s side demonstrated its strength in attack.
Barcelona will now turn its attention to upcoming fixtures, including its Champions League meeting with Galatasaray, before facing other major challenges in domestic and European competitions.
For Gordon, scoring his first goal for Barcelona could prove to be an important step as he continues adapting to life at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
