Trump Says US May Join Saudi Arabia in Strikes Against Houthis After Riyadh Airport Attack
According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Saturday, October 10, 2026, US President Donald Trump has said Washington could join Saudi Arabia in military strikes against Yemen’s Houthi movement following a series of attacks targeting facilities in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
Trump made the statement on Saturday while responding to reporters who asked whether he had decided to participate in the proposed strikes against the Iran-aligned group.
“We may. We’re going to look at it. We just found out about the recent attack. We will make a decision. We move very quickly,” the US president said.
His remarks followed an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that prompted a temporary suspension of operations, raising concerns about security and potential disruptions to air travel.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that the airport was attacked on Saturday afternoon. In a statement, the authority said officials were still assessing the incident and determining the number of people injured.
The US and British embassies in Saudi Arabia also advised their citizens to stay away from the airport following the attacks, citing security concerns and the possibility of travel disruptions.
The latest incident came after Saudi authorities reported that three citizens were killed and others injured in two attacks on Thursday. The attacks reportedly targeted facilities at King Khalid International Airport and an aircraft belonging to Saudi Arabian Airlines.
Airport operations were subsequently restored, with the civil aviation authority confirming that flights and air traffic had returned to normal.
The developments have heightened security concerns in Saudi Arabia as the country faces repeated missile and drone attacks attributed to the Houthis.
The Yemeni movement has claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport and other Saudi airports in recent days. The attacks have increased pressure on regional authorities to strengthen security and respond to the growing threat to critical infrastructure.
