Coaching Negotiations: Carlos Queiroz In Talks To Take Charge Of Bahrain National Team

Renowned Portuguese strategist and immediate past Ghana national team manager, Carlos Queiroz, has entered advanced negotiations with the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) to take over as head coach of the senior national team. According to international sports disclosures reported by GhanaSoccernet on Saturday, October 10, 2026, the veteran manager has emerged as the leading candidate following the sudden departure of former manager Dragan Talajić.

The 73-year-old former Real Madrid and Manchester United assistant coach brings extensive international management experience, having previously led Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Qatar, and Ghana. Football administrators in Bahrain are reportedly keen on securing Queiroz’s tactical expertise to rebuild the national team structure and navigate upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) World Cup qualifying fixtures.

Following his brief tenure with the Black Stars of Ghana, Queiroz’s potential move to the Gulf region marks a return to Asian football, where he previously enjoyed success leading Iran to consecutive FIFA World Cup tournament appearances. Sports analysts observe that Queiroz’s pragmatic defensive organization and international experience make him an attractive option for national federations seeking immediate competitive stability.

Bahrain football stakeholders continue to monitor the final stage of contract discussions as the BFA prepares to announce a definitive coaching appointment. Observers stress that securing an experienced international manager of Queiroz’s stature could significantly enhance Bahrain’s competitive prospects across regional and international football competitions.
